Trainings on Psychological Issues and Management for the EVAW Unit of the Attorney General Office and the Department of Justice in Herat

Between November and December two training courses were taught in Herat for the prosecutors of the Elimination of Violence Against Women (EVAW) Unit of the Attorney General Office (AGO) and for the staff of the Department of Justice (DoJ), all funded through the Italian project AID 7436 “Support to the Rehabilitation of the Afghan Judiciary and Penitentiary System” for a total amount of 28,454 Euros.

The courses were attended by a total of twenty five people. At the first training the prosecutors learned to enhance their capacities and skills on how to deal with and interview women victims of violence, in order to conduct more efficient prosecutions; the latter was provided to make the DoJ staff to gain an advanced knowledge on Planning, Problem Solving Skills, Team Management, Office Management, Report and Proposal Writing, and Monitoring and Evaluation. On the final ceremonies, which ended with the delivering of certificates of attendance to the participants, the local authorities–Heads of the AGO and DoJ, Directors of their sub-departments and units, as well as representatives of afghan civil society organizations – expressed sincere appreciation for the initiatives, praising the steady commitment of the Italian Cooperation in support of the justice sector in Herat province and wishing that Italy will build on such commendable and valuable assistance.
