Health

Since 2001 the Italian cooperation has implemented health programs in the provinces of Baghlan, Baghdis, Herat, Kabul and Wardak worth Euro 22.9 M. Starting from 2010, the Italian funds in support of the health sector are concentrated in the provinces of Kabul and Herat.
At the end of 2010 Italian cooperation activities for the Health sector are all on-budget and focused upon civil works, the introduction of new technologies and related training (laparoscopy, endoscopy, colonoscopy, ultrasound, CT-scan and mammography).
The Italian Cooperation has established, trained and equipped the first Ambulance Center in Herat, and launched a hotline for emergency calls. We support the Institute of Health Science of Kabul and Herat to expand their training capabilities.
In 2016 it has been approved a new initiative to establish a pediatric cardiac surgery department at Indira Gandhi hospital to reduce the health-exodus in neighboring countries to seek specialized medical care.
